A third attempt at the life of Ryan “Cash” Bennett
Three years ago, on July fifteenth 2010, twenty-four year old Ryan “Cash” Bennett, who according to police also goes by the name Roy Felix, was shot at the corner of Faber’s Road and Nurse Findley Crescent in what is undoubtedly a series of unfortunate and tragic events in the life of the well-known Felix family. Bennett is the second surviving son of Therese Felix, who died in late 2008. Prior to her death, she grieved the death of two of her sons: Tyronne and Faron Felix. Twenty-four year old Tyronne was killed on Mother’s Day in 2006. A year later, in December 2007, Therese lost her second and youngest son, sixteen year old Faron. He was killed on after he left home to run an errand for his mother. Faron was shot four times: to the abdomen, the right upper rib cage, the right leg, and the left hand and died approximately two hours later from a bullet that ruptured his liver. Several attempts were made on Ryan’s life: in September of 2007, July of 2010 and now December of 2013. And just before midday on Sunday, in almost a case of déjà vu, Ryan was shot while at a shop at the corner of Faber’s Road and Nurse Findley Crescent, the same location where he was shot back in July 2010. The now twenty-six year old south side youth was shot to the right side after two men on separate bicycles approached and fired several shots at him and his friend, eighteen year old Paul Sambula Junior. Sambula Junior was hit to the back and right hand. Both Ryan and Sambula Junior were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they were admitted in a stable condition. No one has been detained for the third attempt on Ryan’s life.
It’s ironic that after the third attempt on this young man’s life, that personnel from the Police Department hasn’t being able to ascertain who is responsible for such heinous crime.
