Eldon Hendy charged with manslaughter for fatal traffic accident

A senior citizen, seventy-five year old Gregory Lopez, was hit and killed on December fourth, 2013 on the Phillip Goldson Highway between miles six and seven.  It has been twenty-seven days after the fatality and today, police took to court, thirty-six year old technician, Eldon Hendy, a resident of Isabella Bank, Belize District. Hendy appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano and was charged with Manslaughter by Negligence, Driving with Motor Vehicle Without Due Care and Attention and Causing Death by Careless Conduct. He obtained and met bail and is due back in Court on March fourth, 2014.  On the evening of December fourth, Lopez was riding his bicycle towards Belize City when he was knocked down by a white Dodge Ram truck driven by Hendy. Lopez was flung from his bicycle and died on the spot.
