B.S.I. responds to cane farmers in late evening release
Late this evening, News Five received a copy of a letter from B.S.I.’s Chief Executive Officer, Joey Montalvo, dispatched earlier today to BSCFA Committee of Management Chairman, Leonardo Cano on the longstanding bagasse dispute. Montalvo reiterates B.S.I.’s position without budging an inch, stating that on the basis of those points, which the BSCFA fundamentally disagrees with, B.S.I. is prepared to, “negotiate and make payment for bagasse at a quantum to be determined through negotiations, if possible.” And as to a timeframe for those negotiations, B.S.I. states that they do, “expect the discussions to take some time…and commit our best efforts to conclude these negotiations no later than the end of the 2013/2014 crop season.” But on a very important point for the farmers, B.S.I. says “part of the negotiation, a new cane purchase agreement would be finalized that would clarify ownership of cane and all its components upon delivery to the mill.” So in a nutshell, B.S.I. is not moving from its position, and furthermore, has stated that the negotiations for payment of bagasse will be a long, drawn out process. Additionally, it wants ownership of cane once it is delivered at the mill. We predict that this won’t sit well with the BSCFA, and bodes ill for the industry.
Why should the cane farmers sell off all their potential for future income from technologies that may not be on line yet. This would be stupid to do just the way BSI would never do anything like this. Cane farming is not like any other agricultural venture. This is a partnership between the growers and the processors. BSI expects the farmers to take a hit if the price of sugar drops so why are they trying to force the growers now to sell off all their potential for future earnings. No estute business man would do this. Stnd up, unite and do not give in!
These kind’s of company, they suck you dry like mosquitoes …
Stand United BSCFA …
And never give in to such ridiculous terms ,
that would beeeeee mad… giving up future earnings from technology
not available in our country as yet…
And in this case this Company has brought into our country new Technology that was not
afford to us as a country ,now they want to box you , the producer ,out entirely from technology that is now available . This is not just a cane farmer issue but ,an entire Country’s issue ….
