Meet 3 outstanding Belizean men
A trio of outstanding Belizean men, in various areas of service to the country, has been appointed to the Order of the British Empire. They are: Rafael Manzanero, Dr. Adrian Coye and Rodney Neal. The nominations were announced on New Year’s Day by the Office of the Governor General. Manzanero, Executive Director of Friends of Conservation and Development, is being recognized for his contribution to environmental protection. He has been instrumental in raising awareness on the issue of illegal logging and poaching in the Chiquibul National Park. Director of Medical Services at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, Dr. Adrian Coye is being acknowledged for his contribution to medicine. Dr. Coye was at the helm of an investigation into the deaths of twelve neonates at the K.H.M.H. in mid-2013. Meanwhile, Rodney Neal is being appointed Member of the British Empire for his contribution to public service. A date for the presentation of the awards is yet to be announced.

Congratulations Rafael. You so richly deserve this honor. Without you and FCD the Chiquibul would not stand a chance. Isn’t it amazing that it takes a group of dedicated private citizens to take on a challenge that our entire government has failed to even attempt..
These may be great men, and I admire Rafael’s work. But Order of British Empire — by the ‘Queen’ – – is so colonialist and elitst
