Body of Robert Massiah recovered at river mouth
The body of forty-one year old Robert Massiah, missing since Saturday was recovered this afternoon in the area of the Sibun Bar. The search was conducted by relatives Marlon Neal and James Swan. As we reported on Monday, Massiah, along with four friends, were in a twenty-three foot fibreglass boat near Stake Bank when the vessel began to sink. It is believed that as the boat took on water, Massiah had an epileptic seizure and despite the efforts of his friends, could not be saved. The body had drifted approximately ten miles southwest from where the incident occurred. Massiah, an avid cyclist, is most remembered for winning the 1985 Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic.
