Burglar given five years for school break-in

A burglar’s plea for leniency fell on deaf ears when Magistrate Margaret Gabb-McKenzie sentenced him to five years in prison. In court this morning Armond Pilgrim was informed by the magistrate that there is nothing in his criminal record which would make her consider a lesser sentence since he has three previous convictions. The twenty-four year old was charged with burglary for a September thirteenth, 2005, break-in at St. Ignatius primary school. Around eight that night police on patrol received a call that there was a break-in. After a search of the compound, police found Pilgrim hiding in one of the classrooms and arrested him. A teacher later reported that a tape recorder valued at seventy-five dollars had been taken.
