Two badly wounded in separate O.W. assaults

Two Orange Walk men are nursing serious wounds tonight following separate brawls over the weekend. Late Saturday night, an argument between brothers turned bloody, when one sibling picked up a shovel. According to police, thirty-four year old Salvador Pacheco was hanging out with his brother, thirty-one year old Samuel Pacheco, at their mother’s house in Guinea Grass Village when the two began to argue. Reports are that during the scuffle Samuel grabbed a shovel and hit Salvador in the head causing a large cut wound to the left temple. The injured Pacheco was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital and later transferred to Belize Medical Associates for treatment. Police have since detained Samuel, but investigating officers say no charges will be filed against him at the wishes of the victim.

Meanwhile, Orange Walk police are also investigating a chopping incident that left a man missing both his arms. Cops say when they reached San Jose Village around six thirty on Sunday evening, they found thirty-five year old Guatemalan, Francisco Camal, lying face down on the ground suffering from multiple chop wounds to his head and body. Subsequent investigations revealed that Camal was doing laundry when an unidentified man walked up and demanded money. When Camal said no, the assailant pulled out a machete and hacked off his left arm at the elbow. He then took a cut at Camal’s right arm and nearly severed it as well. The victim was immediately rushed to the K.H.M.H. where the dangling arm was subsequently amputated. He was later transferred to the Northern Regional Hospital in Orange Walk.
