Council sets up employment agency for jobless
Every week the Belize City council says nearly a hundred people come knocking at its doors asking for work. With that reality in mind, today the council announced that it has created an employment agency to find work for the jobless.
Michael Theus, Directory Officer, Belize City Council
?A person interested in seeking employment can come to myself, ask for Michael Theus at the council office. I?ll sit with them and go through an application form. Asking them all the particulars, basically what their employment history is, their qualifications be it at the tertiary level or hands on training. So I?ll be able to actually look through their [history] and see how I?ll actually place them with whatever company comes along as seeking employment for them.?

?Excellent. Anything else you wanted to highlight??
Michael Theus
?I would like to say thanks very much to the business community who has supported us with some employment opportunities. I would like to ask more businesses companies to actually use what we are currently offering. The quality of workers that we are putting out there is good, they are screened by myself, and likewise too, I think they would be doing their best since it?s the interest of the council to try and make sure the project works for them.?
