San Ignacio Police say breakthrough in investigation; wanted man remains hospitalized

Kevin ‘Midget’ Manzanero

Meanwhile, San Ignacio Police are saying that there is a breakthrough in the investigation of a string of robberies in the west. On Sunday afternoon, Kevin ‘Midget’ Manzanero was taken into custody after he was admitted at the San Ignacio Hospital for multiple chop wounds to the body. Manzanero was wanted along with his partner in crime, Alex “Cat” Reid, because the duo was fingered in the murder of fifty-six year old Fredy Lopez Senior back in December of last year.  While Reid remains at large, Manzanero remains hospitalized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, under police guard, recovering from his injuries. Inspector Reymundo Reyes told News Five today via phone that Manzanero underwent surgery on Tuesday and should be released early next week safe into the hands of the police.

“Presently he is recovering; he was to obtain a surgery yesterday in respect to the injury that he sustained on his left eye. But he is recuperating really fast and we believe that by early next week he should be released or discharged and we will be able to deal with him in respect to the investigation that we he have here in San Ignacio.”

“Could you just tell us about his accomplice, Mr. Reid? Is there any update on him? Has he been found or anything of that sort?”

Via Phone: Inspector Reymundo Reyes

“Neither, we have, we are looking around seeing if we can get the assistance of the public in the event that he is sighted or whatever and maybe a commission given to us but nothing so far.”

Fredy Lopez Senior was gunned down in front of his wife, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren as they walked on a dark street. Lopez Senior was shot once to the chest and died within the hour at the San Ignacio Hospital.

See what thief gets when they try it too many times? Just like the ones in SAn Pedro. Sometimes street justice is the only justice. He probably will beat the courts again, as usual.
