Slit girlfriend?s throat, cops a plea of dangerous harm
A Belize City man accused of attempted murder has plea bargained his way to a lesser charge. This morning when Norman Mitchell appeared before Justice Troadio Gonzales for the continuation of his trial, the undefended forty-seven year old asked the court if he could instead plead guilty to dangerous harm. Prosecutor Kamar Henry agreed to the alternative charge and the jury was dismissed. The Pickstock Street resident is accused of attacking his then girlfriend Carla Martin in April of last year and stabbing her in the throat. Mitchell’s version of the incident is that he was only playing with Martin and accidentally slit her windpipe, sending her to the hospital for three weeks. He will be sentenced on April twenty-sixth.
