Kevin ‘Midget’ Manzanero finally arraigned for murder of Fredy Lopez
On January nineteenth, a month long police manhunt for Kevin ‘Midget’ Manzanero ended when the wanted man was chopped as he allegedly attempted to enter a home in the Chapel Hill area of San Ignacio. He was seriously injured and went to the San Ignacio Hospital for treatment. Since then he has been recovering at the K.H.M.H. under Police guard, as they waited to question him about his alleged involvement in a spate of robberies in December and January. He and a man believed to be his accomplice, Alex ‘Cat’ Reid, were also believed to be the men who murdered San Ignacio resident Fredy Lopez on Christmas Eve. On Monday, Manzanero was judged fit to stand trial, and based on the directive of the office of the D.P.P., he was escorted to the San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court where he was formally arraigned for the murder of Lopez. Lopez was gunned down in the Kontiki Area on December twenty-third as he and his wife walked their daughter-in-law home. He was attempting to defend his wife, who had been grabbed by one of two men who were trying to rob them. The fifty-six year old businessman was shot in front of his two grandchildren. San Ignacio Police continue to hunt for Alex Reid, who is believed to be in the area.
