Yhony Rosado says he is targeted yet again
Tour operator Yhony Rosado, an outspoken member of the Federation of Cruise Tourism Association of Belize, is in the news tonight again, following an arraignment in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday on a charge of disorderly conduct. The incident purportedly transpired on Boxing Day 2013, when it is alleged that Rosado was involved in a physical altercation with rival tour operator, Vitalino Reyes. Rosado denies ever trading blows with Reyes, B.T.B. executives are raising concerns. Last Thursday, Rosado was called to a meeting with B.T.B.’s licensing committee to discuss the altercation. The timing, he says, was no coincidence. Rosado claims that he is deliberately being targeted by the B.T.B.

“Well apparently they have a charge for me for disorderly conduct on December twenty-sixth, Boxing Day, for getting into a fight with Mr. Vitalino Reyes but it didn’t happen. But if the fight had happened I was supposed to get arrested right there and then because there were too many police in the tourism zone. But because it didn’t happen, because it’s fabricated then they charged me until February fourteenth, Valentine’s Day. But even if they charged me I’m not found guilty and even if I was found guilty for fighting with anybody, my licenses for my tour operation business should not be questioned because my business is for me and my family. If I get sick or I get killed or if I get charged for whatever charge, my family should run this business to maintain themselves because that what we work for, for family. So it’s very questionable whereby I got charged for disorderly conduct on Friday, February 14th, 2014 and then I got called, I got a letter served by the Belize Tourism Board to appear in front of the licensing committee. So that’s what has me here in the media all over again to show the people of Belize what type of system, what type of government we have.”
According to Rosado, the negative publicity is adversely affecting his business.
