2 persons detained in the murder of cab driver, Lester Rowland

Lester Rowland

On Monday evening, the lifeless body of sixty-one year old Lester Rowland was discovered inside a concrete vat outside of his home on Guerrero Street.  A team of law enforcement officers worked diligently the following day to remove the corpse from the tank, before a post mortem examination could be conducted on site.  While the results of the autopsy have since proved inconclusive, Belize City police have arrested two persons whom they believe can provide critical information in cracking the case.  On Tuesday, Rowland’s nephew, along with another individual, was taken into custody.  According to Superintendent Alden Dawson, while a motive is yet to established, they have made significant progress with their investigation.

“We have two persons in custody and they are being interviewed at this time and we are still working on that case.”

“What does the postmortem show? Was this man killed before he was thrown in that vat or was he just placed there?”

Supt. Alden Dawson

“Because of the extent of the decomposition it was difficult for the doctor to make a determination on the spot. So we are still waiting for the results from Doctor Estradabran.”

Duane Moody

“Can you tell us any additional information on that case and who could have possibly wanted this man dead?”

Supt. Alden Dawson

“We don’t have that information at this time but like I said, we are working on the investigation, we have two persons in custody and I think we are making some in roads it is just time.”

Lester Rowland was last seen alive on February thirteenth.  He was reported missing on Monday by his family after discovering his abandoned vehicle near the George Price Highway, in the vicinity of Fabers and Krooman Roads.
