Chinese national found dead, police suspect suicide
In less than three weeks, the Belize Chinese Association has had to deal with a murder in San Joaquin Village and an attempted murder in Dangriga. And as Xue Min Lou lies in a coma at the Belize Medical Associates, there came word today that yet another Chinese national might have been the victim of a violent attack. This afternoon police were called in after a body was found on an abandoned feeder road off mile four on the Western Highway. The corpse turned out to be forty-two year old Wu Baohua. News Five was at the scene and spoke with police press officer G. Michael Reid and Belize Chinese Association member Eric Chang, who identified Wu. Reid told us why the police do not suspect foul play.
G. Michael Reid, Police Press Officer
?Well given the circumstances of what we see here, there are no signs of his hands being tied, everything is consistent with a person who probably tied a wire and caused this to himself.?
Jacqueline Woods
?There were no documents to indicate if he had been living in the country for a while??
Eric Chang, Member, Belize Chinese Association
?Actually I think he?s lived here for a while because according to what the police officer told me, he find the passport and the passport actually expired from 2003. So in other words he came here before 2003, so it looked like he lived here for awhile.?
The bag found on Wu contained a few pieces of clothing.
