Shane Budram escapes jail time for ammunition charge

Shane Budram

Shane Budram is no stranger to the courts or police. The thirty-seven year old street figure has been before the court on a slew of charges; he was back today to face a charge of Kept Ammunition Without A Gun License. But Budram escaped jail time when he was told he had no case to answer by Magistrate Dale Cayetano.  Budram was notably happy when he exited the courtroom in the company of his attorney, Dickie Bradley. On November fifteenth, 2012, Police Officer Brendford Middleton, an officer attached to the Belize Special Assignment Group, reported the bust. Budram was allegedly found in possession of four live rounds of point thirty-eight ammunitions. But in trial, no other police officer was called by the prosecution to corroborate Middleton’s testimony even though he testified that he was in the presence of a number of police officers when he busted Budram. Bradley argued from the onset of the alleged bust that his client was innocent and that Middleton had planted the bullets in Budram’s pocket.

And yet another screw up by the police department. Now wonder the conviction rate is so low. We will never be able to keep our heads above the crime wave if this ineptness continues.
