Jacqueline Woods, Reporting
On Sunday, twenty year old Marleni Montero regained consciousness after being in a coma for four days, but she remains in a very critical condition. Last Wednesday she received head and body injuries after the vehicle in which she was travelling overturned between miles sixty-nine and seventy on the Western Highway. According to Myrsa Morales, her sister was getting a ride home from work with driver Police Constable Sherward Lawrence when Lawrence lost control of the car. Lawrence has since told police that he drifted too far near the edge of the road after the driver of an oncoming vehicle blinded him with its high beam lights. Today Morales not only disputes the report, but says the family holds Lawrence responsible for her sister?s injuries. Morales says an eyewitness, who helped their sister from the wreck, told them that at the time of the accident P.C. Lawrence was overtaking other vehicles on a blind curve. Now they are asking him to do the right thing.

Myrsa Morales
?Why? Because he know that whenever you are driving, you should not drink. And that is a responsibility that he when he mi di drink he know he got somebody with him and then he know that when you deh on the curve, you can?t overtake. All what we want dah fi mek he come and just apologize and fi mek he be responsible for some ah the bills.?

Today, Montero was transferred from the K.H.M.H. post-operative ward to the Intensive Care Unit at the private ward.
