Date for Pook’s retrial has not been set
While Pook remains on remand at the Belize Central Prison, a date for her retrial has not been set. According to Sampson, the overwhelming backlog at the Supreme Court will see her case pushed back indefinitely.

Simeon Sampson, Attorney for Viola Pook
“The retrial date for the Court of Appeal now is random. I think it will be next June but that does not mean that the logistics will be ready for June. That would be hoped, I would be hoping for June but there are lots of cases in the court awaiting trial. So Viola Pook again, awaits her turn among the long list of murder accused awaiting trial. There are lots of them.”

“So she remains on remand at the Central Prison?”
Simeon Sampson
“Yes, facing retrial for murder. No bail, no bail. I was hoping that she would have been set free but their lordships saw otherwise.”
Another woman, Lavern Longsworth, also known as “Antichrist”, is behind bars for dousing her common-law-husband, thirty-two year old David White. She is also appealing her murder conviction, but that case has been traversed to the next session of the Court of Appeal. Back in November of 2012, a jury of five men and seven women found Longsworth guilty of White’s murder. She is currently serving a life sentence.
