C.J. dismisses request to jail accused attempted murderer
The case of man indicted for the attempted murder of his girlfriend has reached the Supreme Court after the Director of Public Prosecutions appeared before the Chief Justice this week to protest the decision to grant the accused bail. Kirk Anderson formally applied for bail to be overturned for Abdiel Sandoval, after San Ignacio Magistrate Hettiemae Stuart released him on bail of six thousand dollars for the charges of attempted murder, maim, and use of deadly means of harm. In his ruling, the C.J. told Anderson “All the Magistrate had before her was an application by the defendant’s attorney and the prosecution did not oppose bail. I do not see how this case can be a contravention of a Supreme Court order. … The accused represents no flight risk, so I do not see why his bail should be revoked.” The C.J. then proceeded to dismiss the application.
Sandoval, a resident of San Ignacio, was arrested on September third of last year for attempted murder after he attacked his sixteen year old girlfriend Tracy Donnis with a knife, slashing her throat, and stabbing her several times in the back. Donnis recovered from her injuries, but was left paralysed from the waist down.
Can anyone provide me with Tracy’s phone number? I would like her to give a presentation at my school.
