Police seek public’s help to catch fugitives
Tonight police need your help in catching two wanted men. A year ago, twenty-one year old Mark Alamilla was arrested and charged in the shooting death of Belize City mechanic Lloyd Bodden. In December the case against Alamilla was set for a final hearing in the preliminary inquiry to see if the matter should be sent to the Supreme Court. On that day the prosecutor should have brought the case file to court but failed to produce the document. With the prosecution unable to proceed, magistrate Sharon Frazer then struck out the charge of murder against Alamilla and he was free to leave, which he did. Because the case was never tried, however, the police had the legal right to bring back the case, but by the time they were instructed to detain Alamilla he had already fled and was last seen running West on Bishop Street. It’s been three months now and the police have been unable to locate him.
Meanwhile the cops are counting on the public’s assistance in helping them find thirty-three year old Edward Amado Gonzales. An ex B.D.F. soldier, Gonzalez is wanted for a string of burglaries, robberies, and thefts that occurred in Belize City, Corozal, Orange Walk and Punta Gorda. According to authorities, Gonzales was arrested last October and charged in connection with a robbery after he allegedly stole cash from a money changer in Corozal. It is reported that after his first court appearance he was allowed to leave and return for his second appearance but Gonzales never made it back to court. If you know the whereabouts of Mark Alamilla or Edward Amado Gonzales please call the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 0-800-922-TIPS.
