Cayo knockdown leaves Esperanza woman brain dead

Meanwhile, police investigations into another traffic accident, this time on the Western Highway, continue; but tonight reports are that the victim has been certified as brain dead. Around five on Tuesday evening thirty-two year old Anne Thompson was hit by a Land Rover near her home in Esperanza Village. She was rushed to the Loma Luz Hospital with severe head and body injuries and later transferred to the K.H.M.H. Despite doctors best efforts, we are told that late Thursday evening attending physicians declared the young woman clinically dead. We understand her family has decided to delay taking her off the life support machines until all her relatives and friends can say goodbye. The driver of the vehicle that struck Thompson, sixty-eight year old Henry Lisbey, told investigators that he heard a noise coming from the front of the vehicle and then realised that he had hit someone. Up to news time, no charges had been filed against Lisbey in connection with this incident but he has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
