Min. of Natl. Dev. receives $360,000 for poverty reduction
During brief handing-over ceremonies in Belmopan today, the Ministry of National Development officially received more than three hundred sixty thousand dollars courtesy of the British Government. High Commissioner Alan Jones presented Minister Mark Espat with cheques for three different poverty elimination initiatives. Just over one hundred thousand will go the Public Sector Investment Programme for a three year project; one hundred and ten thousand has been allocated for new software for the Auditing Department; while the remaining one hundred and fifty thousand will be used to establish a tax administration system to assist in the implementation of the new General Sales Tax in July. The funds were provided through the U.K.’s Department for International Development Strategic Fund.
