Immigration Minister says Jamaican Gay Activist can visit Belize

Maurice Tomlinson

Jamaican gay rights activist Maurice Tomlinson will have his day in court – the Caribbean Court of Justice, to be specific. He has been given leave to challenge the Immigration laws of Belize and Trinidad and Tobago on the grounds that they violate the rights of LGBT citizens. It’s a significant decision in an era which is sexually charged, orientation wise. But Minister of Immigration Godwin Hulse says that for Belize, it’s neither here nor there, because no immigration official in Belize would ask a person’s sexual orientation anyway.

Godwin Hulse, Minister of Immigration

Godwin Hulse

“You know there is this gender policy and one has to be careful what one says. I am never careful with what I say. For me, the position is very simple. Nobody at Immigration is going to ask anybody to declare their sexual orientation. That’s not a question coming into the country, so how on earth are you going to know who is who and who is what to refuse or otherwise allow them entry. So therefore striking it out makes no difference to the law at all. Our criteria has never been to look at that indeed. We have looked at other things…terrorism, etc. etc. He has a right to take his case to the CCJ…the CCJ has the responsibility to look at it. They have said he has a case, they’re going to hear it and they’re going to determine. When they determine, if the piece falls away, it falls away. That is the case.”

What?. Are we really still living like that in this world today. Heck we already have lots of gays in Belize they just hiding it. Is Belize really stuck in it ways. Well if she is, start by killing all those in jail just to start, seeing they have not have sex for some years or do they. man and man, woman and woman, woman and man so what, is it your ass getting teck by a man or is it our bread getting suck by a woman. Leave people alone everyone have a right to live how they want. Belize heck the world have much more worst problems to deal with than to bother with people who are in love with man or woman. So go sit down and shut your mouth.
