Godwin Hulse comments on police investigation into Immigration Department
Apart from a private prosecution of Elvin Penner by COLA, the disgraced former Minister of State Elvin Penner has escaped all scrutiny. The COLA case has been negatively impacted by what seems to be state-sanctioned stonewalling at all levels. Minister of Immigration Godwin Hulse says he has no clue what evidence COLA wants, since the Won Hong Kim nationality file, which is integral to the case, is missing. When asked about the ongoing Police investigation, Hulse confirmed that the Police Department has been out of the Immigration Department for some time now. It is widely believed that Police have deliberately neglected to conduct a thorough investigation, and Hulse added his own criticism.

“I was hoping that when the Police came in they would have been able to determine for us how our files went missing, and who was responsible for that, and how they wound up in Arthur Saldivar’s hand. That is what I really needed to know, and how we could get them back. And that has not been determined. Clearly somebody in the department siphoned them off, or shuttled them out or something and that was the first thing. That would have given us the lead to figure out how it is that we can’t find the file for Won Hong Kim or some of the other files that have been missing. As you know Mr. Saldivar said there were one hundred and fifty files. To my knowledge five have been returned to the Police and a couple photocopies of passports, etc. If that is so, then there’s a hundred and forty-five are still to come. And that is what we were hoping the Police would have been able to determine.”

“But maybe they weren’t seeking it earnestly because there is a third rail involved here…that is something that they know instinctually you’re not to touch because Immigration is a hustle that runs big and deep…so maybe they didn’t seek it earnestly. I, for example, know where some of the files are, and I know that the US Embassy has questioned people who they believe have such files but no local authority has questioned them.”

“I’ll ask the Police to ask you, Jules. The fact of the matter is, though, that at least from the Ministry’s point of view, this matter is something that we need to clean up and put behind us. As you know we’ve done a number of things – we’ve amended the law very strong, we’ve done a whole different process with swearing in, we’ve done a lot with the passports to try and get on top of that. Immigration is a national thing. There are lots and lots of…and please repeat, cause they are kinda upset with me for some comments that I make, but Immigration has a lot of great officers that do a good job. You see they are catching people all the time and all of that, but there are officers who are still doing things that are untoward.”
Anytime I read your comments I cringe! You’re on every committee there is to be had in Belize and are ineffective in all. The story is going to come out soon and the Belizean public will find out that this goes high, including yourself. If my memory serves me right, the immigration officers nor the woman in question, cant remember her name( She grew up right there on Euphrates/Amara ave) , didn’t lose their jobs. Somebody please correct me if I’m wrong. We all know why, they would have started to talk. Look whose hands the files wound up in, Arthur Saldivar. From one hustler to the next. You bet your life that he’s waiting for the opportune time to play his trump card. When this story first broke, I had just started reading the news online for the very first time, because I was never interested in the crime and corruption which are occurring in Belize. Now, I’ve become passionate. I posted a few comments and one of which I stated that “Uncle Sam” was looking. Now, I’ve heard and now read that the US embassy did question some folks. My post was that they were looking and they had a surprise for the likes of Castro, yourself ( Hulse) and a few other people. This is not from assumption, but this is from having in-laws who work at some high levels over here in the US; who have more authority than the US embassy in Belize. Lose your political post and try to leave Belize and see what happens. I’ve asked before to tell the Belizean public where you got so much money to be sending to the US to buy gas trucks and tow heads. We need to pass laws to hold political representatives responsible; from both parties, and they’re indictable when things like this happens.

Godwin..shut up you CLOWN! Once i respected you when you were a senator but we know now that you are not on the side of the Belizean people! Do not worry about Arthur Saldivar…worry bout Penner who is a crook and you are blatantly covering for him and your party. Respect us Godwin, do not insult our intelligence… where are the files damn it? You had an internal investigation of your immigration department, dont you keep copies? Fool di talk..but fool no di listen Godwin.. u day di come and all that intellectual u have will not save you from being exposed!
