Keron Jeffords body recovered from Belize Old River

Twenty-four year old Keron Jeffords was celebrating his birthday along with friends in Isabella Bank when his birthday celebration ended in his death. The Belize City resident went swimming in the Belize Old River, but never resurfaced on Sunday afternoon. Jeffords was the first to jump into the river followed by his friends. As they swam across the river, Jeffords friends returned to the bank of the river because of the strong currents. But Jeffords did not and was swept downstream.  After over a day of search by the Coastguard and Belize Defense Force personnel, this morning at around seven o’clock, Jeffords’ body was found approximately one mile from where he went under.
