Belizean artists join forces to put country on the international music scene
The Belize Conglomerate Music Group, better known as BCMG… It’s a group of eleven Belizean artists—living in Belize and in the US—that have joined together with a mission….to take their music career to an international level. Since forming the group, BCMG released eight mixtapes featuring the songs of various genres of music. The group has also recently debut some music videos in hip hop, reggae, dancehall and R and B.
MIK, Artist
“BCMG is an international marketing status for music groups, magazines, T-shirts, hats and videos. So BCMG is like a label that is trying to put Belizean hip hop artists on the international map to format art there and to compete with lot of international, different hip hop artists and so. So right about now, we are down here, putting down all the work right now. We did a lot of work; we did like three to four months of just recording, straight recording. Everybody got like a hundred tracks each. After the hundred tracks, they sent it to America, they mixed down and they pick out the best vibes that they love to place on all the eight mix tapes that we have out right now.”
Absolut, Artist
“We have artists in America and artists in Belize, but all the artists are Belizean artists. And we also have one, two videos out of the crew; first two videos. We are based in Belize and we also have another base in New York City in Brooklyn, which is one of the main offices out in America.”
MIK
“Personally, MIK…I am focusing on motivational, inspirational and bringing the street vibes into a club light; bringing that street vibes into something positive that the youths could take it and motivate themselves everyday to hustle off of; inspire yourself to take it to a different level. Take yourself to achieve all your goals right now and never let nobody hold you back because they have been trying to do us this for the past ten years, from I was with Instruments of Love. And finally I have the chance to push it to an international level and the video is doing great right now; it is all across America, Washington, Chicago, L.A. So by September, we should be up there in MTV and those spots right now, we are looking at to put the video on right now.”

“My inspiration is just basically, I’ve been here like fifteen years doing this rapping and whatnot. I come from the bottom, ghetto. I had time in America, I was in the ghetto. I’m down in Belize, I am in the ghetto and I am trying to show youths out here, we have an outlet other that drugs and things that’s illegal that can put us in trouble. We have different ways; we could find a way out of this.”
The eight mix tapes are available at music stores countrywide for ten dollars each.
