PM meets with President of IDB
Prime Minister Dean Barrow left the country this past Tuesday. His first stop was in Houston, Texas where he reportedly received medical attention for his back. From Houston the P.M. travelled to Washington D.C. to attend a meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank. The IDB issued a release today announcing the Prime Minister’s visit to the I.D.B. headquarters. He was photographed with President Luis Alberto Moreno with him he had a major fallout in November 2012. But all that is now water under the bridge because both reaffirmed the strong partnership that exists between the I.D.B. and Belize. The I.D.B. says it has also just recently approved the new country strategy for the next four years. The strategy, says the I.D.B., aims to support G.O.B. in improving public expenditure efficiency and effectiveness and promoting private sector development and sustainable export-led growth, by concentrating on education, tourism, transport and trade and tax policy. Discussions also focused on recent initiatives such of road rehabilitation and education totalling thirty million dollars provided by the I.D.B. Barrow is scheduled to return on June third.
It is shameful and embarrassing that every time we hear about any economic development activities in Belize, it is always that the politicians have their hats in hand begging. Now IDB is going to teach us how to be efficient in our expenditures, revenues and tax policy and balance that with effective techniques in education, tourism, transport and trade. And we spend one billion dollars on our civil servants to accomplish this every year. How stupid can we be? Let’s turn the country over to IDB and save ourselves all that money. Does anyone know what he/she is doing in administering governance in Belize?
Does the PM normally fly coach or First Class ?
