British national accused of unnatural sex with minor returns to court
This morning at Independence Magistrate’s Court, the prosecution was unable to provide disclosure in the trial of British national David Taylor. Taylor was arrested in 2012 based on complaints made by a thirteen year old boy. The boy reported that Taylor had intercourse with him on numerous occasions. When Police searched Taylor’s home in Placencia, they found computers and hard drives with pornographic material featuring young boys from Belize and other countries. He was charged for two counts of aggravated assault of an indecent nature and one count of an unnatural crime. Taylor’s attorney Ellis Arnold asked for the case to be struck out because of the length of time which has elapsed, with the prosecution still unable to provide disclosure. The prosecution stated that the file is with the D.P.P.’s office, and it was just submitted to them one month ago. Magistrate Americia de Moya granted one final adjournment. If the prosecution is unable to continue at that time, the accused will walk free. Of note is that when Taylor first appeared in court, he pleaded guilty to the charge of aggravated assault of an indecent nature, but the Magistrate at the time changed that plea. Taylor applied for and received bail in January 2013. He is to reappear in court in August.
