Belize City Man Injured in Motorcycle Accident
Earlier today, a Belize City man riding on a motorcycle collided with a Nissan pathfinder. Emmett Fortune was returning to work when the accident occurred. He fell off his motorbike and the Sports Utility Vehicle ran over his left leg. A News Five team was in the area and Isani Cayetano has a report.
Isani Cayetano, Reporting
A midday collision between a motorist and a sports utility vehicle, near the intersections of Mapp and Cran streets, has left one man critically injured. Shortly before twelve o’clock Emmett Fortune, a deliveryman employed by JEC, was returning to work when he allegedly ran into a white Nissan Pathfinder. Fortune reportedly fell off the black Meilun motorcycle and the vehicle ran over his left foot, fracturing his ankle. The messenger remained prostrate on the pavement for several minutes, his broken bone visibly protruding, before an ambulance responded to the scene of the accident. Writhing in pain, a pair of emergency medical technicians would later place him on a stretcher before transporting him to the hospital for treatment. At the scene of the crash, police recorded a statement from a couple, the driver and a female passenger. It is uncertain whether Fortune was at fault but residents complain that the area has become a hotspot for fender benders, since Mapp Street has been opened up for two-way traffic.
Motorcycle related accidents are becoming very common these days. This is because these motorcyclists are driving like crazy to get where they want. Many of them even drive on sidewalks!!!!!!!!!
Yes, Your right EDDIE some of them driving like crazy NOT all, I’ve seen majority of vehicle just because your on a motorcycle they don’t respect you even on bicycle…..
The number 1 cause of motorcycle crashes are a car/truck turning in front of a motorcyclist. Single motorcycle accidents are mainly caused by debris in the road or poor road conditions.

@annie…. ever wondered why everytime a motorcycle accident occurs it usually involves a car or a bus?? i drive a bike and don’t consider myself to be wreckless but to the contrary quite cautious. a motorcycle has become a viable form a transportation these days because of the surging fuel prices and sub standard public transportation system. why aren’t you on this blog condemning the real traffic offenders: careless taxi drivers and ignorant bus drivers. Both these classes of drivers are truly what make the drive experience in the city and on the highways quite an uneasy experience. Allow the poor motorcycle man his sirene commute to work drivers please??
