Cops arrest burglar but can’t catch weed man

Police have had success in solving the recent burglary of two tourists in Belize City. Seventeen year old Sheffield Ysaguirre has been arrested for allegedly breaking into the room of a pair of U.S. visitors staying at a Barrack Road guest house late Friday night or early Saturday morning. The couple reported losing a camera, credit cards, and plane ticket; all taken while they were asleep. The arrest of Ysaguirre occurred on Monday and so far police have recovered the camera.

Meanwhile in Cayo, cops failed to apprehend a man driving with a load of marijuana… but they did manage to detain the vehicle and over a hundred pounds of weed. The blue Chevy Nova with Cayo plates was intercepted Monday night around eight on the Bullet Tree Road, but the driver failed to stop when ordered. When a chase ensued, the driver abandoned the vehicle and disappeared into the bush. Investigations, as they say, continue.
