Stricken teen doing better…
On December nineteenth, News Five introduced viewers to fourteen year old Rosendo Choc. Earlier that month, Choc, a student at the Cayo 4-H Centre, suddenly fell ill and collapsed. A medical examination revealed that the teenager was suffering from the rare illness Guillain-BarrĂ© Syndrome, a condition that attacks the spinal cord, nerves, and causes temporary paralysis. When doctors told the family that without the necessary medication Choc’s chances of surviving were slim, Mathilda Choc pleaded to the public to help her son. Today, Jacqueline Woods visited Choc, who remains hospitalised at the K.H.M.H. This time however, the young patient had not only completed the series of intravenous treatments, but he was eager to go back home. Mathilda says she has been encouraged by her child’s progress.
Mathilda Choc, Mother
?Well now he could move his hands, he can move his head good, he could move his toe.?
Jacqueline Woods
?His face looks a lot brighter.?
Mathilda Choc
?Yes.?
Jacqueline Woods
?So tell me what are the doctors saying now?
Mathilda Choc
?The doctor says he is improving a lot… He will have to get therapy, then when he go home, every Wednesday he will have to go and get check up in Orange Walk Hospital because the doctor work there every Wednesday.?
Jacqueline Woods
?I know he was in a lot of pain, what?s his situation??
Mathilda Choc
?He feels a lot better; only sometime he has pains.?
The family did receive some financial assistance and would like to thank all those persons who helped. If you would like to further help the family Rosendo’s medical expenses you can contact Mathilda Choc at phone number 660-9770.
