Andres Grajales Wins Smart’s World Cup Challenge
Earlier today, Germany routed Brazil in a devastating score of seven to one in the 2014 World Cup Games playing in Brazil. While the magnitude of the victory may not have been imaginable, a Belize City man has won the SMART World Cup Challenge for his predictions. Andres Grajales is a football aficionado who has been following the World Cup 2014 games which started in June. Grajales now considered a sports psychic was able to foretell the results of the games with precision. He obtained over a thousand points and won all expense paid party for twenty of his friends at his house in Belize City. The group will be viewing the final game of the World Cup with Germany on a forty-six inch flat screen television. News Five spoke to Grajales about his ability to predict the results of the games.

“The idea was to give back to our customers. So we had this ongoing promotion where SMART customers were able to text in and predict the winners in the World Cup competition. And so how that worked is that one point was awarded for every correct team prediction and if the person got the correct score, they were awarded three additional points for a total of four. Mister Grajales accumulated a total of one thousand two hundred and seventy points.”

“Actually he won a World Cup party which will be hosted on Sunday. At that party, he and about twenty to twenty-five of his friends will be able to watch the final competition on the forty-six inch TV that he won and also food and drinks will be provided. We partnered with Grace Beverage Center and as you can see behind me, there is an assortment of goodies that he will be able to enjoy at his party.”

“Yes I feel good to be the winner; to have won the flat screen TV and to win a party for about twenty people; it feels good and I am excited.”

“Now you won because of your predictions for the World Cup. Tell us about you being a football fanatic and making your predictions.”

“Well I follow the world Cup; from the beginning I follow it, but I got majority of the games…winning or the scores the scores itself; of course I missed one or two of them.”

“What advice would you give other people competing in something like this? What’s the trick behind it?”
Andres Grajales
“No, it is not a trick…you study the games and you try to check on the previous records of the teams to see how they fared off before the match that you are predicting on—if they have improved, if they met that team already and so forth.”
