Murder suspected in death of Russian in King’s Park
The avalanche of violence that ended 2005 has continued in the new year. Two murders at opposite ends of the country have already marked the first week of 2006. News Five’s Jacqueline Woods reports on one homicide investigated this morning on Belize City’s north side.

Belize City police say they do not know why thirty-four year old Alexei Goloubev, a Russian national, was killed. But the dead man?s body was found inside the house where he had resided for several years at number two, Third Street in King?s Park. Goloubev was stabbed several times in the back and he was knocked in the head with what appears to be a blunt weapon. Natalie Aguilar says the last time she saw her friend and neighbour alive was on Saturday.

?Saturday morning because he spend all day with we Saturday morning because a young man come Saturday morning first and he bring something for him and then he come cross to our house and the same time we were drinking our tea and we offer him Johnny cake and egg with a hot cup of tea. So after that he said he?s going home, going to bathe and then he going to chill out.?
Aguilar said her family had invited Goloubev to a New Year?s function on Sunday, but he never went. This morning, Aguilar says when she did not see him leave his residence she sent her boyfriend across the street to investigate. He found the Russian dead on the floor in his living room.

?When he gone there he find him on the ground with his head bust and then he stabbed up seven or six time inna his back.?
The deceased?s pants pockets were also turned inside out, making area residents suspect their neighbour was robbed. They also believe Goloubev was killed by someone he knew and had invited him to his home. Aguilar says she repeatedly advised Goloubev about the many friends who frequently visited the house.
