Taxi stolen after driver arrested
A taxi driver arrested after a fight on Thursday night is claiming his car was stolen because police refused to let him bring it to the station. Edwin Haylock of East Canal appeared before Magistrate Sharon Frazer today where he was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault and wounding. He pleaded not guilty and met bail of fifteen hundred dollars plus one surety in the same amount. Haylock says that while on Cemetery Lane, Dennis Tillett became aggressive with him and he had to defend himself with a machete. He also claims his cab was stolen when the officers who arrested him refused his request to transport the car also.
