Father turns son in for assault
When a man accused of theft, wounding, and aggravated assault failed to appear in Magistrate Court earlier this week, Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord ordered that the two people who stood bail for Shandon Richard Avila be arrested. He further insisted that Gary Tasher and Amanda Bermudez bring their surety payments of two thousand dollars with them when they come to court or they will be sent to prison. Neither person has shown up so far, but on Thursday, Shandon Avila’s father turned him in to the court and he was remanded to prison. Avila is accused of attacking Darren Arzu with a machete, stealing a bike and two hundred dollars back in May when Arzu refused to loan him money and the bike.
