Red Cross party treats needy kids
This afternoon, children of all ages gathered at St. Mary’s Hall where they were treated to Christmas snacks and toys. For the past fifteen years the Belize Red Cross has been holding the festivity for children who do not ordinarily get to enjoy a good holiday.
Lily Bowman, Director General, Belize Red Cross
?It is really to reach out to mostly the underprivileged kids, the kids that probably for some reason will not have a Christmas. Maybe they won?t be able to buy toys, they won?t be able to have festive food; we reach out to those kids.?
Jacqueline Woods
?How are the children recruited??
Lily Bowman
?The children are recruited by sending invitations through the schools and the principals are the ones who select the children that come.?
The Christmas Party was also made possible by Friends of Concerned Belizeans an organization based in Miami. The organization held fund raising drives and supplied the children with the toys they received at the party.
