Baby kidnapped; infant & father sought by police

Tonight, San Ignacio police are asking for your help in locating a three month old baby and the child’s father after he reportedly took the child without the mother’s consent. Belize City resident twenty-two year old Shawnice Young told police that around eight-thirty on Monday night the child’s father, Samuel August Sr. who lives in Esperanza Village, came to her home on Raccoon Street and removed the baby from the house. She reported that he told her she would not see the child again until he was, quote “able to talk.” Police went to Esperanza Village but could not locate the child or August. Tonight he is considered a wanted man. Anyone with information that could help reunite Shawnice Young with her infant is asked to please call CrimeStoppers at 0-800-922-TIPS. The commissioner of police advises all parents that the use of children in the settlement of disputes will not be tolerated and will be dealt with to the full extent of the law. The Human Services Department has also been contacted and all are hoping for a speedy resolution to this problem.
