Dangriga Man Awaits Verdict in Attempted Murder Trial…
A trial by judge without jury concluded before Justice Denis S. Hanomansigh in the Dangriga Supreme Court session. But the accused, identified as Devon Logan, who is out on bail, will have to wait until the next sitting of the Supreme Court to learn his fate. Logan is accused in the November 2012 attempted murder of Lizette Cocon, who claims she was only a friend when he attacked and stabbed her as many as twenty-two times. During the one week trial, prosecutor Leeroy Banner called five witnesses to testify against Logan, who is charged with Attempted to Commit the Offense of Murder. In her testimony, Cocon told the court that on that near fatal night sometime between midnight and one in the morning, after leaving work in Placencia she stopped to see a friend in the village. When she knocked at Tanisha Young’s door, she spotted Logan running towards her and threatening to kill her. She claims Logan stabbed her multiple times and dragged her down the stairs where he continued to inflict wounds on her. Cocon told the court that by the time her Young intervened, she had been stabbed more than twenty times. In his defense, Logan claimed he was innocent. The next session of the Dangriga Supreme Court is set to begin in mid-September.
