Orange Walk Police on Murder of Ramon Cervantes Junior
Orange Walk Police and even the National Crimes Investigation Branch have come under scrutiny for what persons say is a stagnating investigation. On July fifth, the body of seventy-one year old Ramon Cervantes Sr. was dug from a shallow grave, one week after he was reported missing. Just days after, the body of forty-six year old Sonia Abac, missing since April, was pulled from a well very near where the body of Cervantes was found. The men who led Police to the body of Cervantes also took them to the body of Abac. Three men were charged for the kidnapping and murder of Cervantes, but no charges have been laid in the kidnapping and murder of Abac. Today Northern Zone Commander Joseph Myvett today gave us an update on the investigation.

“The investigation is still ongoing. We are at a point where we just need to record some further statements and then submit those to the D.P.P. within the next two weeks for the D.P.P. to determine if any charges will be laid.”

“How is the search going so far for Castillo. Any leads?”
A.C.P. Joseph Myvett
“We have followed several leads and we keep getting information which we continue to follow, but so far all of them have turned out to be negative.”
Manuel Castillo is believed to be the mastermind behind the kidnappings and murders. Police suspect he left the country for either Mexico or Guatemala within days of Cervantes being killed.
