Coney Drive motorcycle crash sends mechanic to hospital
The weekend’s second accident has left twenty-eight year old Belize City mechanic Kelvin Geban in serious condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Around eleven Saturday night Geban and another man were on this R-One thousand Yamaha motorcycle when they crashed on Coney drive near the Napa Auto Parts building. However, tonight there are conflicting reports about how the accident occurred. According to Belize City police, twenty-four year old Lee Siu told them that he was driving his blue Sidekick S.U.V. toward Princess Margaret Drive and attempted to turn into a street on his left, located next to the auto part store. According to Lee, a motorcycle carrying two persons travelling in the opposite direction then ran into the front of his vehicle. However, other reports suggest that it was Lee who suddenly turned in front of the bike causing the head on crash with Geban. Following the accident we understand Lee was punched in the eye by one of the victim’s friends. The motorcycle owned by Charles Vernon sustained severe damage. Police say they have taken blood samples from all persons in involved and have served Lee with a notice of intended prosecution pending the outcome of Geban’s medical report.
