Injured osprey to take up residence at Belize Zoo
An injured osprey rescued by a Belize City family is tonight being nursed back to good health by local veterinarians. The adult bird was picked up by officials from the Belize Audubon Society on Thursday afternoon and later transferred to the Animal Health Centre on Lancaster Street. We understand that the Osprey is suffering from a badly broken left wing. Representatives of the Belize Zoo tell News Five the hawk will soon become part of their bird exhibit. The osprey was struck down by a boy using a slingshot, but thanks to the efforts of the Perez family of Berry Street, we are told it will soon be flying again.
