Second annual Entertainment Awards set for Saturday
Last December, Belize’s small entertainment industry proved to be anything but modest as it stepped out in full regalia for a special award show to honour the top performers of the year. This Saturday night, the second annual Belizean Entertainment Awards Show takes place at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts… And today, public relations officer for Global Promotions, Earl Miller promised they’ve organized another unforgettable event.
Earl Miller, P.R. Officer, Global Promotions
?Because of what happened last year, a lot of people are like, okay, I see. Okay this is what I am going to do this year, so who knows, maybe somebody will show up in a boat. Last year it was a bicycle cart, this year it might be a boat.?
?We want the public and the artists especially, to know that people out there who listen to them, we do hear what they are saying and this is just our appreciation to them of the hard work they are putting in trying to bring albums, trying to produce books on poetry, if in the gospel category, trying to get their music about God out. So we are just here to tell them that we are listening and we appreciate what they are doing and this is our means of showing them our appreciation by awarding them for it.?
Janelle Chanona
?From a technical standpoint, how difficult is it putting something like this together??
Earl Miller
?Extremely difficult. The main group of people, we started I think since August, trying to get the show on the road and coming down to the wire we have people getting to bed about two, three o?clock in the morning trying to get all the little kinks ironed out and get all the presenters in line, the entertainers who will be performing that night, and to get the nominees to be ready for Saturday.?
Awards include best Punta rock artist, best female vocalist, best sound system, best Soca-Brukdown fusion artist. The action on the red carpet kicks off at six-thirty with the show set to start at eight Saturday night.
