Homeowner shoots suspected thief
A shooting incident in the St. Martin De Porres area has left a Belize City man recovering from gunshot injuries. According to sixty-two year old Rufus X, around two on Wednesday morning he went to check on his house on the southside of the city and immediately noticed that several pieces of two by four lumber had disappeared. X says when he took a closer look at the house, he saw a ladder leaning on the side of the building and someone on it. The homeowner says he “borrowed” a shotgun from a security guard working in the area and fired, but the figure quickly disappeared. Police were called in and investigations later revealed that around that same time a man admitted himself to the K.H.M.H. suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and left foot. That man, a resident of Jasmine Street in Belize City, has been detained for questioning.
