Local charity group donates to Mercy Kitchen
Tis the season of giving and receiving…and today the staff and beneficiaries of the Mercy Kitchen in Belize City were the lucky recipients of early Christmas gifts. The presents are donations from the Interact Club of Belize, a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people between the ages of fourteen and eighteen. News Five was on hand this morning as the group completed its first project.
Thalia Trejo, President, Interact Club of Belize
?We have disposable plates, cups, and spoons and forks.?
Jacqueline Woods
?This was your first community project, what was it like, how much work went into it??
Thalia Trejo
?It?s the first project, it was very exciting. All the board members and committees, we all got together and brainstorm on a project and this was the first project we came up with.?
Jacqueline Woods
?Any ideas as to what you guys will be doing next??
Thalia Trejo
?This centre is what we?re trying to help the most this year, so we are trying to get some stuff for the elderly. We are not just helping the Mercy Kitchen, but also Helpage.?
Telford Moody, Director, Mercy Kitchen
?We at Mercy Care Centre and the guests that utilise the services here at Mercy Care Centre, specifically Mercy Kitchen, are grateful for the donation that Interact Club of Belize has given us. We have been anticipating for a long while in getting utensils for our kitchen and this will go a long way in providing them with plates to put their food on and so forth.?
