Amendments read including casino & business tax
The questionable land deals were not the only issues brought up in the House. Also introduced, was an amendment to the Settlement of Disputes Act which essentially prohibits strikes unless a twenty-one day notice is provided. This would apply to persons employed as Essential Services including health personnel. Three bills went through a second reading. The first is for the amendment of the Income and Business Tax Act to abolish the withholding tax on casinos, the other is to vary the rates of custom duties on certain alcoholic beverages and the third was to amend the Inferior Courts Act to provide for the appointment of a bailiff to assist in the collection of arrears at the Housing and Planning Department.
