Farmer Hacked to Death in Trio Village…
There were four murders reported over the weekend between Saturday and Monday morning…two in the city, one near the eight miles community and one in San Pedro. Well today, the police are adding one more to the already growing list of homicides…it means that as many as five persons were killed over the past weekend. And so far, there are seven murders in the first eleven days of August and the most recent happened down south. Officers attached to the Independence Police Formation are investigating the murder of a Honduran farmer whose body was discovered on a farm in Trio Village. Twenty-three year old Juan Manuel Espana was found dressed in red T-shirt, long black jeans pants and barefooted. He had two stab wounds to the right side of the chest and the abdomen. Police believe Espana was killed sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning because he was last seen alive around six p.m. on Sunday, riding a motorcycle. His body was found three-quarters of a mile down a farm road north of Trio Village. Late this evening, News Five was told that investigators are still processing the scene, looking for answers, but that no one has been detained in connection with this homicide.
