2005 Gimme 5 kicks off tonight
When it comes to local programming, it’s closest competitor is KTV…that’s right, tonight at eight, Gimme Five kicks off right here on Channel Five. This year, the show celebrates its fourteenth anniversary and the return of host William Neal. And for an extra twist, this time around Gimme Five will not only be rewarding callers with gifts, but five charitable organisations will also be receiving financial donations. We caught up with Neal who gave us a preview of tonight?s entertainment.

?It has been a while since I have done Gimme 5 and it is a show that has its own energy. Usually, the friendly banter between myself and people on the phone is second to none, so I am looking forward to that. But Gimme 5 in itself has an energy when the entertainers are there that just makes it really, really superb and really makes it moves and that?s what I am hoping to do this year, just let the show feed me and let me feed the show in terms of energy and just have a wonderful time enjoying the exchanges with people.?
?We have the Belizean Entertainment from Cayo of course, the Reggaeton Group, so it?s a good way to start it off because everybody is into that right now.?

?It?s Reggaeton yes, but it has the Belizean flavour, you know, dancehall mixed with that, our own version of Creole. That?s why we are asking everybody to support Belizean artists that do things like this because it really gives us an identity in the whole music scene. And a lot of the music has international capability, just that we need the support of the people.?

?I think the show itself, we are trying to aim for an hour, that?s you know is our aim…but it won?t happen, I know that already.?
?It?s a good way to start off the Christmas Season and the whole idea of the donation of twenty five cents, it?s really wonderful and it?s a good way for Channel Five to give and for the society to embrace that and give as well.?
?Usually, I know it?s not really until Friday it really becomes really, really crowded with entries. But looking at it today, I noticed that the box is swelling and filling up already, so I think that people are looking for good gifts and Gimme 5 has it this year.?
