Devon Bailey Arraigned for Friday Night Shooting
Two men were shot at over the weekend and tonight one of the alleged shooters is behind bars on remand at the Belize Central Prison after he was denied bail this afternoon by Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith. Twenty-two year old Devon Bailey, a Construction Worker of Raccoon Street in Belize City was slapped with six indictable offences: two counts each of attempted murder, grievous harm and use of deadly means of harm upon thirty-one year old Charles Hinds Junior and forty-one year old Eldon Solomon. Bail was denied and Bailey was remanded to prison until October second, 2014.
On Saturday around eleven-forty-five p.m., Hinds Junior and Solomon were socializing on the sidewalk in front of a house on Elston Kerr Street, just a stone’s throw from Raccoon Street Extension, when they were approached from behind by three persons, one of whom fired several shots at them. Hinds Junior was hit twice to the top of the head and Solomon was injured to the right upper back. Their attackers then escaped on Pelican Street towards Central American Boulevard. Both Solomon and Hinds Junior were rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they are currently admitted in stable conditions. As we said, Devon Bailey has since been arraigned for the shooting and police are looking for two others in connection with the crime.
