Honduran family searching for man missing 12 years
Tonight a Honduran family is appealing to the Belizean community for help in finding a loved one, missing now for more than a decade. According to the Tosta family of Omoa, sixty-two year old Leonel Tosta left home twelve years ago on a fishing trip with friends. However, the boat Tosta and two other men were travelling in overturned and the father of two went missing at sea. After a six month intensive search turned up nothing, family members gave up Tosta for dead. But then last week, a Honduran woman visiting Belmopan met a man who identified himself as Leonel Tosta. The possible sighting has renewed the family’s hope and this week the missing man’s brother and son arrived in Belize to investigate the report for themselves. If you have any information that may help the Tosta family find their loved one, please contact Guillermo Tosta at 504-390-0631, Police Sergeant Andre Makin at 602-3735, or the nearest police station. Family members believe that Tosta may be suffering from amnesia.
