Still No Arrests in the Murder of Josephine Augustine
While the community cries out for justice, the Police are doing their best to deliver it. On Wednesday morning, Belmopan Police captured four men whom they believed were definite persons of interests in the home invasion in Hopkins. Those men were delivered to Dangriga and questioned by investigators. Today, Southern Zone Commander Ralph Moody told us what that investigation revealed.
Supt. Ralph Moody, Southern Zone Commander
“We are conducting investigations into the matter. We picked up four persons in the Belmopan area. We brought them in, we interviewed them, we took statement; we verified their alibis and their alibis seem to be genuine. We have one whom we obtained an electronic copy of his job punch card which showed that he worked up to five, five-fifteen on Monday evening in Belmopan. So their alibis were genuine and we are continuing our investigations into the matter at this present moment.”

“Violence like this affects the sense of tranquillity, the sense of peace of a community. What assurance can the police give that they will be cracking down on crimes like this and restoring the sense of security?”
Supt. Ralph Moody
“Well my plan is to put in more patrol, more personnel, at that location and I believe that that will assist in keeping the crime at a minimal. As well, I intend to do visits and talk to the neighbours and try to set up neighbourhood watch; get the community organized to support the police. It is very important for the police to do their part as well.”
While the men in question have been cleared, Police have detained others for questioning as they try to home in on a murderer or murderers who destroyed the peace in Hopkins.
