Teenager Charged for Unitedville Murder
Last week, Cayo cops detained nineteen year old Unitedville resident Steven Gomez for his involvement in the murder of Victor Vargas, of that same village. Gomez was questioned, released, and detained again. But today, it was another teenager who was charged for Vargas’ murder. Nineteen year old Joseph Vacario was arraigned this morning in San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court. Inspector Reymundo Reyes told News five that after taking statements, the focus shifted from Gomez to Vacario.

“Sir I know that the last time we had checked on this story you all had a person of interest in custody by the name of Steven Gomez. Can you explain the shift of the investigation from Gomez to Vacario?”

“Well that was as a result of interviews that we conducted of people who, witnesses who were present at the time of the incident. At the beginning of the investigation it was based on a name that was given to us, but based on interviews that we conducted and statements that we obtained, it shifted to the said individual and as a result he was the one who was arrested and charged for the crime.”
Vargas was fatally stabbed during a fight in the village. Police now believe that while Gomez may have been involved in the altercation, it was Vacario who inflicted the fatal wounds on Vargas.
